The General Radio 438 Tube Socket was introduced in Bulletin 930 (1928) and remained available through Catalog H (1935).
The Type 438 is a five-pin vacuum tube socket designed for UY-type tubes. It is a surface mount design with solder tabs and screw type connections. Looking closely at the top, one can see the socket is labelled with triode tube elements.
