The General Radio 980-H Decade Capacitor Unit was introduced in Catalog P (1959) and remained available through Catalog S (1965).
The Type 980-H is a decade capacitance unit that contains four Type 505 silver mica standard capacitors. The capacitor values are selected in a "1-2-2-5" combination. In the Type 980-G these values are 0.001, 0.002, 0.002, and 0.005 μF. The eleven position 980-P1 switch maintains a combination of the four standard capacitors in parallel to produce the decade of capacitance values. The Type 980-G decade unit is a component of the Type 1419-K Decade Capacitor.
